NWNHC slobber straps are American-made from heavy-weight saddle apron leather, stitched for extra strength and hand finished to be soft and supple. They come in three colors to match our braided headstalls and accept a wide variety of mecate rein styles. Straps come as a pair.

Why Slobber Straps?  Slobber straps are recommended and used by natural horsemanship clinicians and professionals to add weight and feeling to the snaffle bit. When you pick up the reins, the slobber strap instantly moves the bit and creates feel in the horse’s mouth. When the reins are released, the weight of the slobber straps carries the rein to a full release position. Thus, leaving the weight of the bridle hanging on the horse’s poll, not on its tongue and mouth.
