This lovely wire-wrapped pendant is made with a polished Petoskey stone cabochon and faceted, gem-quality blue topaz stones, set in delicate, herringbone weaves and woven in oxidized Sterling silver wire. The wire was oxidized naturally with egg yolk, then hand-polished to an aged finish. This gorgeous, handcrafted piece, which comes suspended on your choice of chain. Petoskey stone is fossilized coral (Hexagonaria percarinata) which inhabited the ancient shallow seas of northwest Michigan and it's upper peninsula more than 350 million years ago. Petoskey stones formed later on by glaciation; plucking bits of the fossilized coral from the bedrock and depositing them throughout the region.
